Melanie Swick

Melanie Swick was part of DSLC during her senior year at St. Lawrence University, Canton, New York during which she double majored in anthropology and geology. As part of the Death in St. Lawrence County, Melanie used geoarchaeological techniques, including ground penetrating radar (GPR), to map out unmarked graves in the St. Lawrence County Poorhouse cemetery. In addition, she examined relevant historical archives and documents pertaining to the St. Lawrence County Poorhouse and its inmates to create a timeline. Melanie’s research on the Poorhouse is culminated towards her senior year project and she presented her data at the 85th Annual Meeting of the American Association of Physical Anthropologists in Georgia, Atlanta in 2016.
