Dr. Mindy Pitre, Ph.D.
Dr. Mindy Pitre is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York. She is a bioarchaeologist whose research involves using skeletal evidence to understand the dynamic interactions between culture, biology, and environment in the past. Dr. Pitre has excavated and studied human remains at archaeological sites in Canada, the United States, Egypt, Syria, and the United Kingdom.
As Director of the Death in St. Lawrence County Project, Dr. Pitre oversees research (e.g., historical, geological, archival, archaeological, etc.) being carried out at various cemeteries located across St. Lawrence County. She is particularly interested in how local cemeteries embody St. Lawrence County's past and how they can be used to understand various aspects of local life.
